primate prays for Nigeria

ABUJA – The Primate, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the Most Revd Nicholas Okoh, Friday, called on all Nigerians, political office holders inclusive, to use Christmas celebration to work for the peace and development of the country.
Okoh, in his Christmas message to the nation during this year Christmas service held at the Cathedral Church of the Advents, Gwarinpa, Abuja stressed it that the country could only develop when there is harmonious coexistence among the people of various faiths.
The cleric called on the people to be security conscious and cooperate with security operatives in their localities, while urging the government at all levels to live up to their responsibility of protecting lives and property.
“Christmas celebration is a call to all Nigerians to work for the peace of the country, against the background of insecurity that have been taken our lives in the past few years, so that this coming year, everybody will be comfortable, confident that we have a country, and whether you are going to the east or west, north and south you will be assured that no harm will come upon you.
“So, we plead with everyone to be a promoter of peace, and to give information to security agent for success of their operation, so that everyone of us can rejoice, it should not be left in the hand of security operatives alone,” he said.
In his sermon, the Primate said that essence of Christmas was to remember the less privileged in the society by demonstrating love through sharing material things like food, clothes among others.
He urged Nigerians not to see the celebration as an avenue to showcase wealth and affluence, but “a time to reflect on our life if truly we live like Christ”.
