Former Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna, has stirred controversy online after claiming that many Nigerian men shy away from bold and independent women.

 

Speaking during a recent livestream on Twitch, the reality TV star suggested that her relationship status is largely due to men feeling intimidated by her confidence and outspoken personality.

 

According to her, a significant number of Nigerian men prefer partners they can easily control, rather than women who are expressive, exposed, and self-assured. She added that women like her are often judged prematurely based on their social media presence, with many men forming assumptions before even getting to know them personally.

 

Phyna maintained that she has no intention of toning herself down to meet societal or male expectations, emphasizing that she is comfortable in her identity.

 

“I am a ten over ten. The thing is just that men are scared of bold and confident women,” she said. “There are some women that by just looking at them, you know you can’t control them. But Nigerian men like women they can control.”

 

Her remarks have since ignited conversations across social media, with many debating whether confidence in women is truly intimidating or simply misunderstood in today’s dating scene.
