Popular Nigerian content creator and streamer Carter Efe has stirred reactions online after openly criticizing the personality of Afrobeats superstar Wizkid despite admitting he remains one of his biggest fans.
Speaking during an interview with BBC, Carter Efe revealed that although he deeply admires Wizkid’s music, style, and artistic brilliance, he feels disappointed by the singer’s attitude toward him.
According to Efe, the relationship has been painfully one-sided.
“I love Wizkid, I won’t lie. I love his craft and everything about his music. But I have issues with his personality. I showed that guy love, he didn’t show me love,” he said.
The comedian and skit maker added that despite feeling ignored by the Grammy-winning singer, he still respects his talent and continues to support his music.
The revelation has reignited conversations around Efe’s viral 2022 tribute song “Machala,” which was heavily inspired by Wizkid and became a nationwide hit.
Carter Efe previously stated that the song was created out of genuine admiration for Wizkid rather than for fame or financial gain. However, fans have long noticed that Wizkid has never publicly acknowledged either Carter Efe or the smash tribute track.
The interview has since sparked debate on social media, with many fans divided over whether Wizkid intentionally snubbed the entertainer or simply chose to stay silent.
