It has been gathered that the rumour of death of one of Taxi Driver in Wuse Market on Wednesday is false, speaking through telephone, the Chairman Abuja Painted Taxi, Sheu Yaradua Shugaba, explained that the claim that one taxi driver was killed was total false.
Shugaba
on Thursday said he is interfacing between the union, the FCT Administration
and the security agencies to secure the bail of those arrested especially the
taxi driver-Anthony who was said to have been short by the security agency
while challenging them on the identification of one of the tax force who was on
mufti. He added some drivers that were arrested has been charged to court.
He
admitted that the man, Anthony was beating by members of tax force, but said
such does not warrant destroy of public transport and causing public unrest
through un warranted protest.

reports that Ya’radua while admitting that drivers should work with tax force
in FCT, Shugaba maintained that proper identification of tax force members will
go a long way to address frictions as he said the FCT Administration has
approved for taxi drivers various portion of land for loading. He advised that
painted Taxi should be given free passage to all official premises without
further restriction by some offices within Abuja.
