Reality TV star Phyna has fired back at critics who attacked her over her decision not to have children, blasting them as “outdated” and accusing them of forcing old beliefs on her.
The former Big Brother Naija winner had earlier revealed that she would rather raise pets than become a biological mother, a statement that quickly sparked outrage and heated reactions across social media.
Responding to the backlash, Phyna did not hold back. In a fiery post, she condemned those insulting her personal decision, saying many Nigerians still have “old-fashioned” mindsets and are quick to judge choices they do not understand.
The reality star explained that her decision stems from painful childhood experiences, admitting that fear of repeating the kind of parenting she received has made her unwilling to have children.
According to Phyna, she would rather remain childless than risk becoming the kind of parent she grew up with, insisting that her choice should be respected rather than condemned.
In her words, she wrote:
“Dumb country people, so me not wanting a child is what makes me a failure... y’all brains is still stuck in the 60’s era... I don’t want to bring a child in. I’m scared of becoming a parent like the one I had...”
Her comments have since ignited widespread debate online, with some defending her honesty and others criticizing her harsh response.
