The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified citizens from its member states, including Nigeria, to apply for over 30 job openings across its institutions.

In a notice published on its official website on Thursday, the regional bloc said the recruitment drive is part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of its sectoral programmes. Interested applicants were advised to submit their applications through the organisation’s careers portal.

Multiple Roles Available in Abuja

According to the notice, several vacancies are available in Abuja. These include positions such as Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Accountant roles, Legal Officers, Political Adviser, Principal Officer roles, Registrar positions, Head of Division (Library and Documentation), and Head of Hansard.

Opportunities Across the Region

ECOWAS also listed vacancies in other African cities, highlighting its regional presence. Available roles include Administrative and Finance Officer positions in Addis Ababa, Principal Programme Officer (Sports Policy) in Liberia, and Principal Programme Officer (Water Supply and Sanitation) in Conakry.

Additional legal and administrative roles are available in Dakar and other locations across the region.

Eligibility and Application Process

The organisation stated that applicants must meet age requirements based on the job category: 35 years for General Services or Support positions (G1–G7), 45 years for Professional roles (P1–P7), and 50 years for Director-level positions (D1–D2).

Applicants are required to download and complete the official application form, attach a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter, and submit them via designated email addresses before the deadline.

ECOWAS emphasised that incomplete applications will not be considered.

Deadline and Advisory

The application window for the 2026 recruitment exercise will close on April 30, 2026.

The organisation also warned applicants against fraudulent schemes, stressing that it does not charge any fees during its recruitment process. It encouraged female candidates to apply and noted that only shortlisted applicants would be contacted.

The recruitment exercise underscores ECOWAS’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and promoting inclusive participation across its member states.
