Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has revealed that meeting global billionaire superstar Rihanna in Barbados in 2024 completely transformed the way she saw herself.
In a recent interview with W Magazine, the 23-year-old singer admitted that she was battling low self-esteem and insecurity before the life-changing encounter with Rihanna.
According to Ayra, one of the most unforgettable moments was sitting beside Rihanna while they watched her music videos together, with the music icon pointing out the scenes she loved most.
“At that time I was struggling with my self-image and confidence, so that moment meant everything,” Ayra said.
The singer described the experience as surreal, adding that she believed Rihanna came into her life at exactly the right moment.
“I felt like God had sent her to me,” she said, calling their first meeting “one of the most amazing feelings.”
Ayra Starr, who has often named Rihanna as her greatest inspiration and role model, said the encounter gave her the reassurance and confidence boost she desperately needed.
Interestingly, during that same meeting, Rihanna also hinted that she would be open to collaborating with Ayra Starr and fellow Nigerian star Tems a possibility that has since excited fans worldwide.
