Award-winning Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin has opened up about his troubled childhood, revealing how growing up without a father figure pushed him into drug use at a young age.
Speaking during a candid interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Franklin disclosed that his father abandoned the family, leaving his mother to singlehandedly raise him.
The actor described himself as “a hot mess” while growing up, admitting that the emotional void created by his father’s absence led him down a destructive path.
“I was a hot mess as a child. My dad abandoned me. My mom raised me alone, and I turned to drugs,” he said.
Franklin, however, said he was able to overcome the addiction through the unwavering support and sacrifices of his mother, whom he credited for his success in life and career.
The movie star also stressed the challenges of single parenting, noting that children especially boys need a strong father figure while growing up.
