Popular Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has stirred reactions online after openly admitting he would gladly become a househusband if his wife starts earning millions of dollars yearly.
Speaking during an interview on the Tea With Tay podcast, the actor said he sees nothing wrong with relaxing at home while his wife takes over as the family’s breadwinner especially if the money is flowing heavily.
According to Deyemi, many men secretly struggle with relationships where women earn more, leading to insecurity, tension, and power battles in marriage.
The father of three jokingly declared that if his wife begins making between $1 million and $10 million annually, he would happily step away from acting and embrace life as a stay-at-home husband.
He said:
“God, please let my wife hit $1 million or $10 million per annum. If you see me act again… I’ll be a househusband. There’s money already, what are you stressing for?”
The actor further claimed that many men become overly defensive once their wives contribute more financially, adding that even small arguments in such homes often turn into fights about money and control.
Deyemi, however, stressed that his major concern is being valuable to his family regardless of who earns more.
His comments have since triggered heated conversations online, with many Nigerians divided over whether men can truly handle financially successful women without ego clashes.
