Mayowa Lambe has fired back at her ex-husband, media personality Roby Ekpo, with a cease-and-desist order and a ₦100 million defamation demand, following his emotional public accusations about their failed marriage.
The legal threat comes just days after Roby Ekpo broke down in tears during an interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he accused Mayowa of secretly remarrying abroad while they were allegedly still married.
During the emotional interview, Ekpo claimed he sponsored Mayowa’s relocation overseas, only to later discover through social media posts that she had married another man without officially ending their union.
He further alleged that throughout their 11-year marriage, Mayowa secretly used contraceptives while he spent years undergoing fertility treatments, believing they were trying to have children.
Ekpo also claimed he had continued sending her money, unaware that she was already living with another man.
“I woke up to videos and pictures of my wife on Instagram getting married to another man,” he said during the interview, sparking outrage and sympathy online.
The shocking revelations quickly triggered heated reactions on social media, with many users blasting Mayowa and demanding that she address the allegations.
In response, Mayowa has now taken the legal route.
Through her lawyer, Chinedu Nwaneli, she issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding that Ekpo delete the videos, retract his statements, publicly apologize, and pay ₦100 million in damages for what she described as false and defamatory claims or face legal action.
Her legal team insisted there was “no existing marital relationship”, adding that there is verifiable evidence contradicting Ekpo’s version of events.
The dramatic fallout has only intensified public fascination with the couple’s messy breakup story, especially after reports resurfaced that the pair first met on Instagram in 2015, after Mayowa reportedly slid into Ekpo’s DMs before they got married just months later.
With accusations of betrayal, secret remarriage, and now a ₦100 million legal battle, the scandal is quickly turning into one of the most explosive relationship controversies on Nigerian social media.
