Nigerian rap icon Olamide has opened up about the frightening ordeals he has faced while performing on stage, admitting that the repeated incidents have left him anxious before every performance.
The YBNL boss revealed that despite his fame and years of experience, he still battles intense nerves each time he is about to perform because of the traumatic experiences he has endured from overzealous fans.
Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Olamide recounted shocking moments when fans suddenly rushed him on stage and grabbed personal items like his chain and hat, leaving him startled and vulnerable.
According to the rapper, the unpredictability of such encounters has made live performances a source of anxiety rather than excitement.
“I get nervous every time I am going on the stage. I have had too many crazy experiences while performing. Someone from nowhere will just come and grab your chain or your hat, you don’t even know what to expect,” he said.
Olamide’s revelation comes amid renewed attention on his relationship with former YBNL signee Asake, who has now dismissed rumors of a fallout between them.
Asake stated in a recent interview that his loyalty and respect for Olamide remain intact despite his departure from YBNL Nation.
Speculation about a possible rift began in December 2024 after fans noticed that Asake had removed YBNL from his Instagram bio and unfollowed Olamide on the platform, fueling rumors that their relationship had soured.
The rumors gained even more traction after the singer launched his independent label, Giran Republic, prompting widespread assumptions that the two music stars had parted on bad terms.
However, Asake has now put the rumors to rest, insisting there is no bad blood between him and his former boss, and making it clear that their bond remains solid despite his move to independence.
The revelation has reassured fans who feared that one of Nigeria’s most successful music partnerships had ended in controversy.
