Popular Nigerian Fuji disc jockey, DJ Kulet, has opened up about her painful past, revealing that before rising to fame, she was involved in prostitution in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
The entertainer, whose real name is Kudirat Gbemisola, made the emotional revelation during a testimony session in church on Sunday, where she spoke about how her life transformed after giving her life to Christ.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, DJ Kulet recounted how she was widely known in Surulere not just as a DJ, but also for her former life on the streets.
Reflecting on her journey, she said she grew up in the Lawanson area of Surulere and was once trapped in a lifestyle she now describes as “the gutter,” until she experienced a spiritual turnaround.
Sharing the testimony video on her Instagram page on Monday, the DJ narrated how she moved from homelessness and prostitution to becoming a successful entertainer and homeowner.
According to her, she once wandered the streets of Lagos without shelter, depending on prostitution to survive, until a man helped rent a small apartment for her. From there, she gradually improved her living conditions through her DJ career, moving from a “face-me-I-face-you” apartment to self-contained apartments, and eventually to a four-bedroom ensuite home.
She added that despite challenges with difficult landlords and poor living conditions, her perseverance and faith eventually paid off, as she was able to purchase her own house in Surulere last year without relying on any man for financial support.
DJ Kulet said her story is proof that God can transform any mess into a message, expressing gratitude for how far she has come.
The testimony comes months after the DJ also revealed in 2025 that she had suffered molestation at the hands of a family member, adding another layer to the difficult experiences she has overcome on her journey to success.
