Nigerian Afrobeats star Ruger has opened up about one of his biggest regrets in entertainment missing a direct message from Funke Akindele that could have landed him a role in one of her blockbuster movies.
Speaking in an interview with media personality VJ Adams, the singer revealed that the missed opportunity still deeply pains him.
According to Ruger, he had always admired the actress and noticed that she frequently vibed to his songs. He had planned to send her a message to appreciate the support, only to later discover that Funke had already reached out to him for a movie role but he saw the message too late.
Ruger admitted that realizing he had missed such a major opportunity left him devastated, saying the regret has lingered ever since.
“I am interested in acting and wouldn’t mind going into the movie industry. I once missed a DM from Funke Akindele for a movie role. I didn’t even see it on time. That one still pains me,” he said.
Although he expressed interest in acting, Ruger admitted that the demanding nature of movie production might be a challenge for him.
“I think acting would be difficult for me because I don’t like shooting. But I would get into character still. If my character is interesting, yeah,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has dismissed rumours of a fallout between him and Funke Akindele.
During a recent interview with BBC, Tobi described the rumours as baseless social media fabrications, insisting that there is no issue between him and the award-winning actress.
He explained that many online rumors are simply made-up stories designed to stir drama around public figures.
