Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has revealed that his father still refuses to acknowledge his success in the movie industry, saying the family patriarch does not believe he is an actor despite his growing fame in Nollywood.
Speaking during an interview on WithChude hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Arukwe opened up about the emotional struggle of gaining acceptance from his family, particularly his father, who remains unwilling to embrace his acting career.
According to the actor, although his father has heard about his achievements in the film industry, he has deliberately refused to accept the reality of his son’s profession.
“My father doesn’t know that I’m an actor; he has heard, but he doesn’t want to believe. My mum was slow to adapt because of her husband, but she later came around,” Arukwe said.
The revelation comes amid a fresh controversy surrounding the actor over viral rumours alleging that he impregnated fellow actress and reality TV star Bamike Olawunmi, popularly known as Bambam, and caused a crisis in her marriage to Teddy A.
The speculation erupted on social media following Arukwe’s on-screen chemistry with Bambam in the 2025 YouTube movie Love In Every Word, prompting wild allegations that the actress’s marriage had allegedly crashed after a leaked private chat suggested she was pregnant for her co-star.
Reacting angrily to the reports, Arukwe dismissed the claims as false and malicious, warning that those behind the damaging rumors would face serious legal consequences.
In a strongly worded statement, the actor said a specific social media account had already been identified as the source of the defamatory claims, vowing to make an example of the culprit.
“A specific account has been identified to spread false rumors and baseless accusations about me and my professional engagement with another colleague in the industry,” he wrote.
Arukwe added that he would not tolerate reckless attempts to destroy his reputation for social media attention, stressing that those responsible would be held accountable.
“That individual will be made a scapegoat so others learn to respect boundaries and refrain from chasing clout and Elon Musk money at the expense of damaging someone else’s reputation.”
The actor’s emotional family revelation and fierce response to the scandal have since stirred massive reactions online, with fans rallying behind him while condemning the spread of unverified rumors.
