Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has sparked reactions after revealing why she no longer attends church services physically on Sundays.
According to reports, the actress said her decision was driven by the overwhelming attention she receives whenever she shows up at church gatherings.
In a video shared on her Snapchat page, Akindele was seen at home preparing breakfast and getting her children ready for church. However, she made it clear that she would not be accompanying them to the venue, opting instead to participate in the service online.
She explained that her presence in church often shifts focus away from worship, as people including media teams and fellow congregants are more interested in taking photos of her.
Quoting her words, she said: “Do not ask if I am going to church. I am not going to church. Anytime I go to church, it is me that they take picture of. I will join online.”
The actress added that the constant attention makes it difficult for her to worship in a calm and private environment.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Akindele has also dismissed claims that she deliberately snubbed Fuji star Wasiu Pasuma at a recent public event, describing the viral reports as misleading and taken out of context.
The clarification comes amid ongoing social media discussions surrounding the incident.
