Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Pere Egbi, has opened up about his last conversation with actor Alex Ekubo before the actor’s tragic death.
In an emotional post shared on social media, Pere revealed that months ago he felt a strong urge to reach out to Alex just to check on him and say a prayer for him a moment he says now carries even deeper meaning following the heartbreaking news.
According to Pere, the exchange reminded him of how fragile life can be and why people should always make time to check on loved ones.
Screenshots of their direct message conversation showed that on August 11, Pere messaged Alex to ask how he was doing. Alex later responded on August 15, saying he was fine and also asking after Pere and his family.
Replying, Pere said he was in the United States hustling and expressed happiness at hearing from him. He added that people should constantly check on one another because life is short.
The conversation later turned emotional as both men exchanged prayers, with Alex praying for God’s protection over Pere, while Pere also prayed for Alex in return.
Alex concluded the conversation by thanking Pere for reaching out and appreciating the thoughtful gesture.
Reacting to the loss, Pere wrote:
“Jesus!!!!!! Jesus… this one hurts. I had the nudge to reach out to you months ago, just to check on you and pray for you. You didn’t say much… but now that moment means even more to me. Life is short. Please check on people while you still can. Rest well, my brother Alex. May God guide you home.”
