Nollywood Star Alex Ekubo Celebrated for Career, Humanitarian Impact and Industry Achievements

Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo continues to earn recognition for his contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry, humanitarian work and growing influence across Africas film scene.

 

Born on April 10, 1986, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Ekubo hails from Arochukwu in Abia State. Known for his charismatic screen presence and towering 62” frame, the actor speaks English, Igbo and Hausa fluently.

 

Ekubos journey to fame began in 2010 after emerging as the first runner-up in the Mr Nigeria competition, a breakthrough that opened doors in modelling, television and Nollywood. Since then, he has established himself as one of the industrys most recognised faces through roles in romantic dramas, comedy films and television productions.

 

The actor attended Federal Government College, Daura, in Katsina State, before studying Law at the University of Calabar. He later obtained a degree in Mass Communication from Calabar Polytechnic.

 

Over the years, Ekubo has starred in several notable productions, including Lagos Cougars, Weekend Getaway, In the Cupboard, Dream Walker, Blazing Heart, The First Lady, Hire a Woman, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, Sugar Rush and Fate of Alakada.

 

Beyond acting, Ekubo has also built a strong reputation as a television personality, fashion influencer and brand ambassador. His humanitarian efforts and support for charity initiatives have further boosted his public image.

 

In 2020, he was inducted into the MIPAD/United Nations Most Influential People of African Descent Top 100 Under 40 Hall of Fame. He also received a Certificate of Excellence from Sapio Club SDG for his contributions to African entertainment and humanitarian services.

 

A year later, the actor earned the Nigerian National Award of Excellence as the Global Social Giving Actor of the Year for his charity efforts. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Arts and Culture by Institut Supérieur de Communication et de Gestion University in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

 

Ekubos career has been decorated with several awards, including the BEFFTA Award for Nollywood Rising Star, the Screen Nation Film and TV Award for Favourite Male African International Emerging Screen Talent, and multiple Best of Nollywood recognitions. In 2023, Rotary International District 9142 honoured him as Rotary Youth Ambassador of the Year.
