Laycon has made a shocking revelation about how winning Big Brother Naija Lockdown saved his mother’s life.
Speaking during an interview on the Echo Room podcast, the reality star disclosed that his mother was critically ill while he was in the BBNaija house and that the prize money from his victory was what paid for her urgent treatment.
According to Laycon, if he had finished as runner-up instead of winning the show, he would not have had the money needed to save her.
“When I was in the house, my mom was ill. By the time I came out, my mom was close to death. If I did not win that show, if I had come out second, my mom would be dead now,” he said.
The rapper also spoke about his transition into filmmaking after leaving the reality show, revealing that movie producers approached him not because of his acting skills, but because of the fame and attention his name could bring to their projects.
“You haven’t seen me act, so I don’t think it’s because of my acting talent. I think it’s because it’s me, and you just want your movie to do numbers,” Laycon admitted.
Addressing criticism over his involvement in music, film, and academics, Laycon said many people assume he ventured into film because his music career was not doing well, but insisted that people will always have opinions about his decisions.
